I am emailing my dear friend Suzie Andres: “How about I do a free giveaway of your book, A Little Way of Homeschooling on my blog?”

Suzie is excited and emails straight back and suggests not one free giveaway but three. “Three for the Blessed Trinity,” she explains.

“Shall we offer paper books or ebooks?” is my next question. We spend a few emails discussing this important decision and then…

“Shall we do an ebook giveaway? … Ebooks make it totally fair for readers wherever they might be on the globe…” No postage costs. Everyone can enter!

Suzie adds, “… post the idea, sometime in September, perhaps. Ooooh, we could have the drawing October 1st for St. Therese!!!”

And so here I am, on the eve of the novena to St Therese, offering three free ebooks of Suzie Andres’ book A Little Way of Homeschooling: 13 Families Discover Unschooling. Three ebooks that will prove invaluable, just like my copy.

I have a paper copy of A Little Way of Homeschooling. I haven’t seen it for some time. It has been travelling around Australia. Mothers have been reading it, pondering it, discussing it. My book is helping spread the word about the little gentle way of homeschooling.

But I haven’t missed my copy of Suzie’s book because I also have an ebook copy of A Little Way of Homeschooling. It’s on my Kindle which travels everywhere with me. Every time I go out the door, I pop my Kindle in my bag. I can sit in the van or at the park or by the lake and ponder the treasures contained in A Little Way. But that is not my only e-version of THE BOOK. Oh no! I have one on each of our netbooks, one on the PC, one on the laptop… (Could I sneak one onto Callum’s tablet too?) I bought one ebook of A Little Way of Homeschooling for $7.99 and downloaded it to every reading device I could find. Now isn’t that great value? And convenient too.

So I’m hoping you would like the chance to win your very own ebook of Suzie Andres’ A Little Way of Homeschooling. You don’t need to have a Kindle or other ebook reader. THE BOOK can easily be read on a computer. In fact, it looks wonderful on screen! And you can choose either an epub file or a mobi file version.

So all you have to do is leave a comment here on this blog. And maybe you’d like to pray the novena to St Therese as well. It starts tomorrow, 22nd September. And on October 1st I will draw the winners.

St Therese pray for us.

  23. Sue, I thought about your giveaway and especially the novena when I read today’s Mass reading from the prophet Haggai:

“For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘One moment yet, a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will come in…’”

Don’t worry, we are only expecting you to give away 3 e-books, not all the treasures of the nations! Ah, but for those treasures, let’s turn to Therese in the novena before her feast, just as you suggest. She encourages us to be (as Jesus asked) like little children, so like little children let’s hold out our hands to be filled by her, and we can remind her, “You PROMISED!”

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for hosting this generous e-book giveaway,
    Suzie

p.s. please don't enter me in the drawing :) since I already have the epub! I'm praying for all those who enter, that Therese may give them their hearts' deepest desires (and for three, a beautiful e-book too).

  24. Your email talked me into it Suzie! Please enter me in the drawing Sue. :)

I always had a hard time with St Therese's Little Way because in school I was brainwashed into "thinking globally" and "changing the world" - though I was constantly frustrated that I never could manage to do anything on that level. Over the last year and a half St Therese has finally penetrated my heart and made me realize that God is the only one who can do truly huge things, and that the little things that I have always done are in fact enough. I definitely have A Little Way of Homeschooling to thank for driving that point home - thank you Suzie for writing it!

I would love to have an e-copy of the book so that I can still reference and read it while my book is out being passed around between other families.

  25. Suzie,

Hosting this ebook giveaway is a great pleasure. Thank you for letting me help spread the word of "A Little Way of Homeschooling" and St Therese's Little Way.

Yes, may our hands be filled with many treasures due to the intercession of our dear St Therese.

And thank you, Suzie for your prayers. May God bless you.

  26. Jennifer,
It is wonderful to see you here. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and entering this giveaway.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on St Therese and her Little Way. I can relate to it so well. I was relieved to discover St Therese: I had failed trying to be big and how comforting it was to find out that I could make a difference in my little way.

And I just love the connection Suzie has made between St Therese's Way and homeschooling. Yes, thank you Suzie for writing your book!!

So many of us want an ecopy of The Book so we can share our paper versions with others. We want to share the great treasure we have found. This just proves it is a wonderfully encouraging book.

    God bless!

  28. Jennifer, I just had to comment on your comment!
    You wrote:

Oh my goodness! Yes, I totally understand! It took a while for Therese to reach me, partly for the same reason.

Have you read "I Believe in Love"? It is such a great book about Therese's Little Way and how we can be little, and that is lovable to God. Well, I read that book and thought, "This is wonderfully appealing. I wish I could live this way. But I have always been told that I need to be big, and I can do anything. If only my vocation were to be little this would be so consoling, but, but, but....aren't I supposed to be big and use my talents to change the world?"

Slowly I realized that in fact I am little and that is okay, in fact it is fabulous! As I heard someone say today, I could ask myself regarding my attempts to be big and change the world: "How's that working for you?" Actually, not so well! I never succeeded!

Ironically, by being little and sticking close to Therese, by trusting God with this whole book project, wouldn't you know that she and God surprised me and made it (in a little way) a big deal? These lovely women contributed to it and then the best publisher in the world published it (a little publisher, naturally), and now, one by one, women are finding A Little Way and sharing it. Why? Because it is true! God loves us! He doesn't need us to be big - He already is big Himself!! What He delights in is our tiny attempts to love Him back. Like joining up for an ebook giveaway on an Aussie blog :) or learning how to spend time joyfully with our beloved children...

I'm so glad you came over and commented - I say that to Jennifer and to all who have dropped in. Hooray for Therese and her Little Way!

    affectionately,
    Suzie
