Oops!

I seem to have flooded the Blogger feed and the Facebook feed and the Twitter feed with loads of new blog post notifications, dozens and dozens of them.

Do you remember Micky Mouse in Fantasia? How he multiplied the broomsticks and lost control? That's just how I feel. My heart missed a beat when I saw the Blogger feed. And then I visited Facebook. I didn't have the courage to look at Twitter. But I know exactly what I'd have found if I did. Although I sat here and published post after post, somehow I didn't quite expect them all to appear as new notifications. Well, they are all reposts rather than original posts.

So what have I done? Thanks to Erin's brilliant suggestion, I have imported all the posts from my blogs Stories of an Unschooling Family and Stories of Grief, Love and Hope and reposted them here on this blog. Sue Elvis Writes is now a bumper sized blog!

All my comments were imported and published too. I am so delighted I haven't lost all the contributions written so very generously by readers of my other blogs.

Unless you have been following and reading all three blogs, there may now be new posts here that you've never read before. I hope you will search the archives and share my stories.

So I think I have adequately fulfilled my blog post quota for this week... month...year? Just one more post to publish. In a minute, I will send this post on its way out there to the blogosphere to join all the others.

What's one more notification?

  1. Oh, how embarrassing!!! If that was me, I'd be really cringing by now!! In fact, I think my Google feed might have frozen, for a bit, when they all came in.

Are you finished? Can we return to normal, now?

    (Sorry - but I can't help laughing...)

  2. Hi Vicky,

Remember how you were worried about your occasional blog post notification clogging up the Facebook feed? You weren't even trying! And have I finished? I suspect I haven't. I think the notifications are being published gradually. There could be lots more. You will just have to put up with it or unfollow me immediately. On second thoughts, I don't think unfollowing me is a good idea, not if you want to remain on friendly terms with your older bossy sister.

I would thank you for the comment but I think you've had a big laugh at my expense...

    Lovely to hear from you!

  3. How do you do that?

How do you feed Google feed? (whoever he is) and Facebook feed? I don't have Twitter ... can't understand it. Do you need a cellphone for Twitter? I have a new cellphone that takes photos. I keep pressing the wrong button and taking pictures of my ear.

I wrote to you on Facebook and then lost what I wrote. So I will not find your reply if you receive what I wrote but I did not send !!!

Facebook is confusing. And I don't know anything about Google feed. Is it as easy as Blogger?

It would be a good idea to promote one's Blog ... if I knew how.

    God bless.

  4. Hi Victor,

Don't worry about feeding Google or Facebook or Twitter. I have fed all three more than enough for both of us. They shouldn't be hungry again for a long time.

I did get your Facebook message. That's the first time you've ever posted on my wall. Did you just work out how to do it? I see you made a few mistakes. I do that all the time!

My phone doesn't have a camera. It allows me to make and receive phone calls. What a radical idea!

And you needn't worry about promoting your blog. I'm sure it's very popular as it is, but just in case you need a little extra help, I made a blog button for you. It's in my side bar and is linked to your blog. Do you like it?

Thanks for your amusing comments! What? They weren't supposed to be amusing? You always make me laugh.

    God bless!

  5. Hey Sue thanx for the button on the right on your blog. Most grateful.

I was just asking how do Blog posts appear on Google, FB and Twitter. And where can people read them. For instance you said your Blog posts appear on Google. Do I Google your name to see them or do they appear elsewhere on Google? Like a Google Blog Page?

Computers are very confusing. Sorry ... have to stop now ... the cat has run away with one of my socks ...

  6. Victor,

We are having two separate conversations at once online. I have just sent you a couple of FB messages.

When I was talking about the Google feed, I meant the feed that appears on the Dashboard page: all the notifications of new blog posts. Only the readers who have followed your blog will see them. I guess you could Google a blog for new posts. When I Google 'Sue Elvis Writes' I get a nice list of blog posts that are available to read.

I explained about FB feed on FB and Twitter is easy. You need an account and then you need followers. When someone logs into their Twitter account they will see all the tweets of everyone they follow. So for Twitter to work, you need followers. You can arrange to have your blog notifications sent automatically to your Twitter account and FB wall, just like they go automatically to the Google feed.

What a lot of words. Have I confused you completely? I hope not!

  7. Victor,

I have just realised why you are confused. My brain is hurting now too! I said Google feed when I should have said Blogger feed. Blogger is part of Google (isn't it? I am not sure of anything any more!!!) but still... it wasn't the most accurate way to describe the feed. You've been looking for a feed that doesn't exist (as far as I know).

If you can make sense of all this, they you have a marvellous brain!

    God bless!

  8. Thanx Sue,

I now understand that what you write on your FB Wall appears on other peoples' FB Newsfeed. And that Google and Blogger are the same thing and my blog posts appear on my Blog followers' Dashboard. I'll keep well away from Twitter to minimise the confusion I can take.

I've written to you on FB and also put a "test message" on my Wall to see what happens.

Thank you for your help and patience.

    God bless.

  9. I bet you didn't imagine your post Oops would result in so many comments and confusion.

Please don't give up altogether and stop Blogging.

    God bless.

  10. Hi Victor,

I am not good at explaining things but despite that you seem to have understood!

I found your FB message in my feed. Now you know how it all works, you'll have to write on your wall more often. I am sure you could come up with some very amusing posts to keep us all entertained.

Twitter is easy but I can understand your reluctance to get involved with yet another feed after all this confusion.

I have enjoyed talking with you Victor! Yes, I didn't expect this post to result in so many comments. I can't give up blogging again. There are only so many times I can end my blog. If I did it again, no one would believe me.

    God bless.
